Welcome to the ARS Control Room Blog

This blog is provided as a means for you to share information with the other control room operators about the ARS system.

This blog will act as a journal of entries for us to respond to. Please keep it clean and be concise about problems or issues you have experienced and want the other operators to know about.

Entries can include questions that you are seeking answers to.

The control room will also have a centralized Sulzer email account for you to send emails to staff outside the control room.

Le'ts try this for a while to see if it's is a good forum to share communications with each other.

  1. I have a comment on a different subject matter. It has come to my attention that when you set the ARS system into an automatic filling mode for the 800 tanks, unless you stop it after a tank is full, the system goes into a Return mode (both tanks share an equal volume of liquid gas). This matter needs to be handled for an efficient tank fill-up.

  2. We also need to address the C-unit Atomizing button in the Control Room. Everytime we push our chairs away from the desk, it gets bump into at times and becomes activated. Need to install a smaller button or move the desk in a different area.

  3. I would like to add that the ARS system also has a problem after the melter is done, that when you turn off the Atomizing switch to the unit, it goes negative at the Pressure Transducer. We need to eliminate this problem because it makes venting the transport pipe, much harder than it has to be.

  4. If the operator closes FCV-102 (manually) at the end of the pour, the pressure will not go negative. Leave the atomizing switch on momentarily until the pressures stabilize, then cut off the Atomizing Switch.

  5. I think it would be a great thing to have some low wattage lighting added to and around the liquid gas tank farm and surrounding area. This would greatly help us night guys to see guages, valves, pot holes, ice in winter, etc.
Your concideration would be much appreciated.

  7. Hey Paul,
Just a reminder of our conversation on Friday July 9, about the glycol pump leaking and being pretty damn hot.

  8. Letting everyone know about the issues I have concerning the leak test and purge sheets. It seems that when you go to do one or the other, it either will not allow you to enter any data unless you unprotect it first, or ask you to place it in read only status. please observe this and see if it can be fixed.

  9. Also, the 800 tanks apparently like to fill up and start losing gas at its own rate. When you look at the data acquisition chart, you see a drop in gas going to the tank various times instead of a constant ascending line. Any suggestions when filling a tank, please inform.
